A shading grid is the best thing on the market for protecting young plants from direct sunlight. As an energy source for photosynthesis, sunlight is very important for plant growth and development. However, an excessive amount of light is not only not useful for plants but might be harmful. Only part of the sunlight energy is spent on photosynthesis. The other goes to heating the soil, the surface of the plants, and the air from them. As the temperature rises, the energy consumption for the transpiration and respiration of plants increases.
