Bakewell Sr., publisher of the Los Angeles Sentinel, the Taste of Soul Festival was envisioned as a platform to celebrate and uplift African American communities through culture, cuisine, and commerce. What started as a local food and music event quickly grew into a massive citywide celebration, drawing over 350,000 attendees in recent years.
